Civil 3D integration/ribbon menu not working [again]

We are using ProjectWise 08.11.11.590 with Civil 3D 2016 and the AutoCAD Integration Module.

After some time the icons in the C3D ProjectWise ribbon menu become grayed out and unavailable. Similarly if you try to create a DS it opens a local dialog box, not a PW box.

Our IT has reinstalled numerous times but eventually it breaks again. This is extremely frustrating and does not bode well for our continued use of PW.

How do we properly fix this and/or where should I be posting these types of C3D questions?

    Thanks

    John

      Hi John,

You posted in the right place.

The most common cause for Integration of any kind to stop working is the use of "Open With". When open with is selected it is very easy to select the unintegrated program group. In addition the "open with" dialog usually has the check box to make the selection the default selection. This can happen without the user realizing what they have done.

Usually going to tools-->Associations-->Programs, setting the View to User Associations and either remove any existing user associations or add one to use the correct ProjectWise program group.

The picture above shows the correct program groups for Civil 3d 2016.

If this doesn't resolve the problem please open a Service Ticket. I know know you can fix with a reinstall, but lets get to the root cause.

Also I strongly recommend that you update your ProjectWise client to the connect edition. There are many performance improvements and fixes. It is where you can get 2017 & 2018. It will run off your Select license. I promise you will be pleased with the improvements.

      Vickie

Thanks so much for your help with this.

When I go into PW \ Tools \ Associations, I don't see a \ Programs, and nowhere do I see any ProjectWise-integration AutoCAD... items such as in your screen capture.

      I see this:

      Hi John,

This would be more easily handled as a Service Request using TeamViewer.

You can go to the Service request Manager and open an SR. Refer to this thread and I will work on it with you.
