    limiting reference file attachments

I'm trying to keep people from referencing drawings that are not part of the active project. Does anyone know how to accomplish this in ProjectWise?

Access control would be best option. Another way could be to have this active project on separate datasource.

      This is a test

We're already using access control, but if someone has access to both projects there isn't anything to stop them from browsing to the wrong one when they are attaching reference files. Creating a separate datasource is problematic as well, due to the large number of projects we work on. I looked at the project resources tab to see if I could find anything there. There are some interesting options, but nothing that limits the user to the active project (work area).

As long as they have read-only access to a file they can attach that file. THere isn't a way to restrict it to browsing from the Rich Project folder of the current project down.

You might be able to use PowerShell's Get-PWReferenceReportForFolder to find files that have references attached from outside of the project, but it can't stop the practice.

As others have answered answered access control doesn't have an option that will restrict in this way.

I have a couple of ideas about improving the visibility of files attached from outside of the parent project. I want to set up and try out theory and then I will post my findings here.

Vickie, have you had any luck finding a way to limit the references to just the active project?
