Is there any way to drag and drop files out of projectwise to create a local copy? Any attempt to drag and drop only creates a shortcut link. I am aware of the ability to right click the files and either export or copy out, and then browsing the location I want to save the file to. However, I was hoping there was a simple drag and drop method to move files quickly to local folders or to add them as attachments in emails.
Thanks.

Eric, there is no way to drag and drop files out of Projectwise. The intent is that you work on the documents within the Projectwise environment so that the documents are updated in one location or Single source of truth. You should be able to double click on a document to open it using the appropriate application, if your application integration is set up correctly to attach a PW document to an email, you should see a Projectwise tab on your email message, click on the tab and select attach Projectwise document or Projectwise URL.
I agree with you and have requested this be added to PW Explorer several months ago. If a drag and drop INTO ProjectWise does an IMPORT, Why can't a drag and drop OUT of ProjectWise kick off the EXPORT wizard?
I like that idea and our users have asked me the same exact thing
Any update on this....it's 2020 and I still am unable to copy out my pdf from PW to an email to send to the PM. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! PM needs proper path on drawing PDF (PW path), not my C:\drive path or I would just PDF to my laptop. Please advise. Thanks.
Right-click the file, select Send To > Mail Recipient doesn't work for you?
