Use ProjectWise Project Property in Workspace

    Steven Litzau
Online Steven Litzau over 4 years ago

I would like to use a property out of a ProjectWise Project Type to define portions of my MicroStation/GEOPAK workspace. I am hoping to use this in conjunction with the Dynamic project variables DMS_PROJECT and DMS_PARENTPROJECT to create a single project block instead of having to create a CSB for each project. Does has anyone had any success in doing this in a workspace?

    Thanks,

    Steve

Steve, Dynamic links to projects are possible. https://communities.bentley.com/other/old_site_member_blogs/bentley_employees/b/xfiless_blog/posts/dynamic-projects-with-managed-workspaces but depending on the version of Geopak you are using, you may not be able to pass the project value properly.

Gary, thanks for the response here. I have successfully incorporated the DMS_PROJECT and DMS_PARENTPROJECT. I was attempting to include in the configuration a project number (different from what is used for the DMS_PROJECT) that I define as a part of the environment settings for the project. Any idea if that is possible?

We have not found a way to do this with Project Attributes or properties, and have been wanting to do the same thing. https://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/f/content-management-forum/102790/project-explorer-properties-in-projectwise We use the project number as part of the PW path, and have used combinations of:

      $(lastdirpiece (dms_parentproject (_dgndir)))

      or $(dms_project (_DGNDIR))

To strip out the project number. Hope this is helpful. Let us know if you find a creative method!

It's our understanding that the PW Environment Attributes are not available in the thread until after MS processes the workspace and the editor is loaded.
