    Lost references when new version

    Setting in projectwise:

Person 1 has read and write access in stage 1. Stage 2 and onward is read only.

Person 2 has only read only from stage 2 and onward (cannot see files in stage 1).

Person 1 puts a dgn with references and the references in said dgn to stage 2 - person 2 is able to see everything in the DGN-file

Person 1 wants to continue working with dgn and its references and therefore moves everything back to stage 1 - person 2 opens DGN and the references are red.

How can this be solved? We have found one solution and that is to reference old versions to the master DGN but that means a lot of work. Is there any other way?

make the references in stage 1 read-only to stage 2 so the references can be seen? (also how does Person 2 open a file from Stage 1 if they can't see it?)

if the file has been put to stage 2 that version will be visible even if is lift back to stage 1 in next version. after some research this problem seem to be directly connected to overlay-files. doesnt seem to be any problem in microstation DGN.
