Project teams looking to establish single source of truth source hyper- link direct to ProjectWise from SharePoint.
Hyperlink working in edit, as soon as page saved on SharePoint the hyperlink becomes inactive.
How do I establish a SharePoint Page hyperlink to Project Wise files?
Recently viewed item " To add project-wise web parts" unfortunately no Categories list appears for PW selection.
Sharepoint URL fields are restricted to specific protocols in the URL. All other protocols are blocked. Outlook Web Access has the same restriction and will turn non-conforming URLs into links that bring up an error message from OWA (Outlook thick client from Office install does not have this issue.)
You can't change the list of allowed protocols, however you can create a custom field type that allows ProjectWise URLs and makes them clickable. I'm not totally familar how to do this on the Sharepoint side but one of our developers created a custom field for our projectwise urls and they work fine.
An entire custom web part is not needed, just a custom field type.
Kevin, this is exactly what i'm looking for thank you. I would certainly appreciate any guidance to implement this functionality on SharePoint.
Luc, Audrius - thank you for your comments and support, very much appreciated.
Hi Kevin, we are attempting to add hyperlinks from a SharePoint site to files on ProjectWise Explorer and found this thread. If you are able to provide and further information on how to go about using custom field types to achieve this it would be very much appreciated.
Hi,
Just following up this thread to ask if there is any guidance that can be applied where the links are to older work areas rather than the newer 365 enabled connected projects. I can remember seeing a post that advised adding a prefix to the PW address such as http://XXXX.ps/pw/?pw://projectwise_url. When this modified address is added to the hyperlink in Sharepoint you can then launch through to ProjectWise and highlight the document or folder as you would do if the link had come from Outlook.
Any guidance would be really appreciated.
Thanks
Russell
