Project teams looking to establish single source of truth source hyper- link direct to ProjectWise from SharePoint.
Hyperlink working in edit, as soon as page saved on SharePoint the hyperlink becomes inactive.
How do I establish a SharePoint Page hyperlink to Project Wise files?
Recently viewed item " To add project-wise web parts" unfortunately no Categories list appears for PW selection.
Myself too, I'm interesting to know more about this subject, as it may be require for two project.
I would really like to see a more deep presentation, a suggestion for SIG meeting? So we can better understand what we can do. Like can we exchange documents between two platform? Can this link be bi-directional?
Microsoft Office strips all non-web links, which includes pw:// URLs. As an alternative you could use a link to a document via ProjectWise Web (Share). it is a proper https:// link and will not be removed. For this to work you will need to connect your Work Area to a ProjectWise project in connect.bentley.com
We are adding a lot of new features to ProjectWise Web (Share) so maybe your users will be happy using only web interface? If not there is a menu to jump to PW explorer (see picture below - "Open in ProjectWise").
If you want to automate this, you can use ProjectWise connector in Microsoft Flow to get web links from documents and store them in SharePoint. You can read ideas about how to use flow here: https://communities.bentley.com/products/betas/projectwise-design-integration-connector-for-microsoft-flow-early-access/b/pw-integration-connector-blog
Very soon it will possible to transfer files form PW to SharePoint... the recommended method is keeping all data in ProjectWise and using links in SharePoint, of course.
I will be talking about MS Flow ans use cases like this in next SIG on June 20th.
PW links work with MS Office outlook, word excel etc, frequently links are sent via email (URNs/URLs). SharePoint links to PW are inactive, given this is a MS Platform it seems odd to have a blocker.
Is there a webpart that can be used to enable PW links on SharePoint?
Audrius that is good news
Will check that SIG on the 20th of June.
Sharepoint URL fields are restricted to specific protocols in the URL. All other protocols are blocked. Outlook Web Access has the same restriction and will turn non-conforming URLs into links that bring up an error message from OWA (Outlook thick client from Office install does not have this issue.)
You can't change the list of allowed protocols, however you can create a custom field type that allows ProjectWise URLs and makes them clickable. I'm not totally familar how to do this on the Sharepoint side but one of our developers created a custom field for our projectwise urls and they work fine.
An entire custom web part is not needed, just a custom field type.
