    data shortcut version

We are expanding the use of versioning to files that feed the data Shortcut project ( DS-Project) and to the project it self (.CivilDSProj)

Maybe we are doing something wrong as we begin to explore.

For some reason the DS does not update at the end of the consumption chain.

DS Feeder ( version B) » DS-Project » DS Consumer » Xref into the master document

In the DS Feeder file, designer use the mask command to hide the last end of the track

In the master document we expect to see the end portion of the track being update and mask, which is not the case

In order to see the application of the mask, we had to create a duplicate entry of the track in the DS-Project

An consume that new track entry

The DS-Project consume only the version B of the DSA Feeder, which for me should have update the DS with the new information of the track ( apply the mask to the end of the track).

    Upon investigation we find

The mask option of the track did not propagate to the original entry I the DS project or was stuck in some sort of caching and we have no idea how to force any cache information to be refresh.

Update I case someone experience the same issue.

We ran some other tests and find out.... we need to delete the local cache copy, force a refresh which will create a broken link inside C3D

Back to PW, manually force the copy-out.

Back to C3D, repair the broken link

Hi Luc, are you familiar with the PW Datashortcut project editor tool (start>Bentley>PW>Tools>PW Datashorctut project editor)? It's a tool that will open the .civildsproj file and assist with repairing any errors in the project so you can repath broken links. Also, Civil 3D has it's shortcutshistory.xml that makes Civil 3D load the last known project. If that path still exists on that computer, Civil 3D will resolve that first. You can either blow away that XML or change the path so that Civil 3D can't resolve it.

      Thank you Phil

Yes I'm aware of the Project Editor.

In my case I did not have any error. I force that error ( by deleting a file) so I can force the system to re-read the file to load the correct information of the track element contain in the short cut

That .xml info is interesting,  will keep that in mind
