Is there a method to use file synchronize across datasources?

Wondering if there is a method to use delta file transfer between datasources?  I would make maintaining large environments with Project Templates, design standard documents, instruction sets, etc. easier to manage if there was a method to choose certain folders to be synchronized between datasources. I was just wondering if this feature exists or has there been a thought to implement such?

    Thanks,

    Frank

      2 methods:

      1. ICS for PDF (despite the name) can sync files to other data sources. Basically you distribute files without rendering them.
      2. Powershell scripting. This is trickier because it isn't a single command, you'll have to export the files locally via powershell then import them into each data source. Also if you want to copy attributes from environments you have to script that too (ics can do this, even mapping attributes between different environments.)

Kevin, is there any documentation or do you have a guide/steps on method 1 above? I need to sync files from one data source to another data source.

      TIA

      Jrod

Kevin probably have better insight than me but here the big lines

I create a saved search to collect the documents ( find it more practical), in my case I have a properties name Replication that users need to check or uncheck

On the Integration server being the source ( the one hosting the document to be replicate) create under Rendition an output profile. There is few options, you may need to do some test to get the desire results.

On the ICS server associate to the source, create a new job definition, select the server that host the documents

In the Input files tab select the Output profile you create earlier

In the rendition settings, select Do not generate  renditions

In the Distribution Settings tab select the Output profile create earlier ( click the white page icon)

Launch the replication in manual from the ICS

That should help you get start. Test with a small dataset and growth the replication dataset or do multiple one the create a schedule

      Luc, thanks for your help.

I have read about the saved search process to gather the documents but i'm unclear about how its used (defined) in iCS source dialog to tell iCS which documents to sync.

Also, I don't have access to iSC server since we are Bentley hosted so I have to do everything from PW Explorer and PW Admin.

      TIA

might talk to Bentley managed services about ICS. My understanding is there are some hoops to hop through but you should be able to work on an ICS server (we aren't hosted, just been talking with them).

I think the next update of server stuff will add off-server ICS management.

As Kevin mention, you may have to wait until the next update, else the Third step ( on the ICS Sever)  will not be accessible to you ( sorry)
