    Extracting absolute filelocation from Projectwise

    Hi,

I'm working with the integration between Projectwise and Microstation - Setting up a title Block. In the title block I want to show the absolute file location, if anyone should be in doubt where to find the file in Projectwise.

I have looked at the properties available under Attribute Exchange Rules / Microstation Title Blocks / Bindings.

There are a lot of Properties to bind to my File Location Attribute, but non of them containing the absolute filename.

I have found the FolderCode which contains the DMS folder ID. The FolderName which contains the parent folder name. Non of the properties I have tested contains the path showed in the General Properties tab as shown in the inserted screen dump.

Is it possible to get access to this information in a way so I can insert it in my title Block ?

    Thanks In advance.

    Ole Bro

      Hi Luc,

It's not there I have the problem. It's when I'm trying to get the absolute file path in the Microstation integration with Projectwise.

In the selection dialog "Add Binding" I can't find a property containing the absolute file path. Maybe I could create a dummy attribute. Set the value to the system variable you are suggesting and in that way get access to the information I need.

      It's worth testing.

      Thanks for your input.

      Kind regards

      Ole

Yes that what I was suggesting

For other who follow, here few steps

      Under the correct  Environment,

      • I create a new attribute name Full_Path
      • I create a new attribute to trigger the update - UpdateAttr

In the properties of the Full_Path, under value » Update value section

      configure as my previous post

Following this set the attribute that will trigger the update value

Once this done, hit refresh or log-out/in of the admin and then go to the binding ( not sure why sometimes  the new attribute will not show immediate)

If require add the new attribute so it will be display under attributes or more attributes. ( easier because you can see the value)

Now from within PW client, select the document » RMB properties.

change the value of UpdateAttr, this will trigger the Full_Path to be populate
