Use PW Excel Import/Export to batch create multiple files from seed?

Hi,

I have a big project coming up that will require over 5,000 files be created from a single seed file, all named differently.  I've been researching ways within ProjectWise and other tools to handle this type of mass creation.  I came across this article the other day from 2011: https://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/b/weblog/posts/create-many-files-from-one-seed-file-in-projectwise

While old, it claimed that you could use ProjectWise's Import from Excel /Export to Excel toolset to create files based upon a single seed file.  When I tried the instructions on more recent versions of ProjectWise Explorer, it would not create files from the specified seed as the instructions showed.

I'm having other options like Powershell be looked into, but wanted to know if this is even possible to do anymore or if at all before to rule it out.  Did something change in recent years to the tool to make this impossible or was it never possible and the article was made in error?
