    Hello

Anyone has a detail explanation of when PW will add prefix like

    dms_delete

    dms_missref

    etc...

Trying to reproduce the scenario that lead to this

Hi Luc, dms_deleted is used to save the deleted items from that folder.
If source DWG is removed from PW, the datashortcut in the project points to ‘dms_deleted’ prefixed filename, but the datashortcut in the XML is not removed from the project. So the shortcut will be not found in the file.

Local file system references are ignored. ProjectWise references are ignored or denied to load if the file exists locally but removed from ProjectWise. Data references that point to removed ProjectWise documents will be re-pathed to a non-existing document(‘dms_deleted’ added to the path), to avoid loading in the future. Hope this helps.

      Hi Gayatri,

We are having issues with data shortcuts not finding the source dwg. None of the source dwg have been removed from PW, but for whatever reason all the reference files they now have the dms_deleted prefix. Is there a way to fix this? I tried to repair shortcuts in several ways, but they keep breaking and not finding the source files. Thanks.

      Hi Loris,

Has the location of your Local Working Directory changed?

You may need to purge your Local Working Directory with the ProjectWise Local Document Organizer, and then go to Windows and delete all of the the folders that begin with a "d" or a "dms" prefix.

In order to investigate the cause, compare the folder location where the (host) drawing is looking for references to the ProjectWise folder (Folder ID) where those drawings are currently located. Take a few screenshots of the "before" conditions while you have one of a host drawing open, and then close that file.

(FYI: You may need to create a personal view and add the Folder ID column to it in order to see that data.)

Prior to opening a host drawing that presents this dms_deleted condition, try navigating in ProjectWise to the file(s) that it is referencing and selecting Copy Out on the reference file(s) in order to make sure that they exist in your Local Working Directory. Then open the host drawing and see if it is still presenting you with the dms_deleted condition. If it is, compare the folder number where it is looking for the reference(s) to the folder ID that you Copied Out the reference file(s) from.

(BTW, If this issue is related to your XREFs and you are not getting the "missing XREF" dialog box when you open the file, asking you to ignore, repath or delete the reference, you probably have the system variable turned off. DMSSET > REFMISSINGMODE) See: DMSSET Variables for Integrated AutoCAD (bentley.com)

If this is related to Data Shortcuts, try using the Manage Data Shortcuts tool to repair the broken DREFs.

Be sure to Synchronize References after the repairs are complete.

Save; Close; Check In; and re-open the file. You may need to repair and synchronize some of the Data Shortcuts again before it sticks.

If you are seeing dms_deleted in the paths of the data shortcuts (not the data references) then you need to repair those before you are able to repair the broken DREFs.

If you look at the .CivilDSProj file with the ProjectWise Data Shortcut Project Editor, you will see that the locations of the Data Shortcuts' Source Drawings need to be defined.

Defining the locations with that application is much more efficient that doing it from the Civil 3D interface, but you should make sure that all of the source drawings are checked in before you check out the .CivilDSProj file.

I'm running into the same problem as Loris this week. Following your suggestion, am I supposed to delete all of the "d" or "dms" folders associated with only the affected project or all on my local working directory?

I have hundreds of other files associated with other active projects not experiencing this issue and would prefer not to have to replace all that information again.
