    Projectwise Web vs PW View

In our Bentley portal we see an option for "Projectwise Web View" but this is only a view and download option. I want our users to be able to open and edit Word and Excel Files which i thought was available at one time. I know we have created some connected projects but these are connections to specific projects, i don't want to have to create a connection for every project.

Is there an option like "Projectwise Web View" that shows our entire data source and our users can open and edit Word/Excel files?

Hi JROD, Currently we can edit the MS Office files only through Projectwise Web which provides access to Work areas via Connect Project. Hope this helps.

      Madhuri

      Thanks for your response.

You are verifying that there is no Projectwise web service that shows us all work areas and allows us to edit files, the only way to get this functionality from a web service is to create connected projects in Projectwise 365, correct?

Madhuri - Any plans to provide web-based viewing of DGNs and DWGs?

      Hi JROD,

"Projectwise Web" provides Read- write access to datasources & users can edit Word/Excel files using PW Web.

Now let's talk about how PW Web & PW Web View are different:

      • ProjectWise Web provides web access to selected work areas in a particular datasource. ProjectWise Web View provides web access to selected datasources.
      • ProjectWise access in ProjectWise Web is read-write. ProjectWise access in ProjectWise Web View is read-only.
      • ProjectWise Web is one of the ProjectWise 365Services available in each ProjectWise project, and is accessed from a tile inside the project (it is project based). ProjectWise Web View is NOT a ProjectWise365 Service, and is instead accessed from a tile directly from the CONNECT Center home page (it is enterprise/organization based).
      • You must be a member of a ProjectWise project in order to enter the ProjectWise Web portal of that project. You do not need to be a member of any project in order to enter ProjectWise Web View (you only need a Bentley IMS account, which is already a general requirement for accessing the CONNECT Center).
•ProjectWise Web requires a license. ProjectWise Web View is free.

Please refer below link provides more information & videos on configuration & use of Projectwise Web.

      Hope this is helpful.

      Best Regards,
      Madhuri
