    Projectwise - Data back up/Archive/Protection

A few questions regarding Projectwise and Data Protection:

Can folders, projects, and/or files be archived? If it is archived, is there ways to 'unarchive' the folders and bring the projects back?

How is Projectwise Data backed up? And if there is an incident, how can data be recovered?

If you're familiar with Powershell you might review this post on using the Projectwise powershell tools to archive projects. powerwisescripting.blog/.../

Currently, there is no option to archive and unarchive the projects in ProjectWise Explorer. You can use access control to temporarily remove access from the users for those projects or just give read access to those projects, but the project will still be visible in the system.

For database maintenance, please refer to this link - https://communities.bentley.com/products/projectwise/content_management/b/weblog/posts/database-maintenance-for-projectwise

If your datasource is hosted by Bentley, database maintenance is done by Bentley for you.

I concur, PowerShell can be used to export and archive projects on a local drive. If you have any questions about PowerShell scripting, you can post on the below forum:

I recommend keeping like with like. If  you want to be able to unarchive over a shorter term, I agree with security changes. Later, I would use powershell to move to another datasource for archives that has the same configurations as the source. There's always the chance of an "unarchive" of any kind except security changes to go wonky. Security changes could involve using poweshell to export the current security starting at the topmost level and saving it inside the top folder/work area then change it (possibly by moving it to an Archive folder). A separate datasource performs better in the long run.

ProjectWise is a system of database(s) and file storage in windows (SAN). You would back those up.

      Bill
