    ProjectWise 10.00.03.434 and slow AutoCAD title block updates

    Hi. I moved from ProjectWise 03.167 to 03.434 about a month ago as I have been wanting to use AutoCAD 2020 and I've come across a problem with the AutoCAD drawing title update process.

    When AutoCAD drawings use the following right click action;

    - Check Out
    - Export as a locked file

    After the files are out, there's a process which occurs to update the title blocks which uses Autodesk's RealDWG SDK. We have found that the versions of ProjectWise 03.280 and newer we have used, has been incredibly show for this process to complete.

    It's not the data export process, that seems to be fine.  The RealDWG update process (used by the attribute exchange) currently runs at about two files per minute.  Before the upgrade, 03.167 would process about 2 files per second.

    Is anyone else experiencing or hearing from other users how it's slow to update AutoCAD drawings?

      G'day, for what it's worth, this has been logged with Bentley and the feedback is that it's a defect and has been referred to another team to manage.

      Hi Peter,

      Not sure if it is linked but I have been working with Bentley very recently where we identified a defect in the external integrations with AutoCAD, Ustn and O365.  This was in PW Explorer V10.00.03.434 and related to custom filtered picklists not displaying in the properties dialogue in the external app.

      The support team managed to replicate this internally on their systems so are currently working on a fix.  Considering you issue is related to a different part of the AutoCAD integration it would be good to get Bentley to check for links.  The defect ID filed by the support team internally for my issue was TFS ID 1128801.

      Getting the same issue. PWE 3.167 -> 3.434 (PWIS on 3.280)

      Seems to be any file using Attribute Exchange (dgn, docx, xlsx) take a few minutes per Checkout or Export (As managed).
      Attempted with other files (png) which don't have attribute exchange and it was an instant Checkout.

      10 DGN files are about 4minutes 25seconds on 3.434 while about 20seconds on 3.167.
      Very frustrating as we want to update to utilize the new features for WFS (Change State) options which require 3.434.

      I've logged a ticket and Bentley are looking into the logs. Haven't been told its a defect yet...

      Can someone send me turned up PWC and ODMA logs from on of the impacted machines?  To turn up logs, go to

      C:\Program Files (x86)\Bentley\ProjectWise\bin\pwc.log.xml/ odma.log.xml and open the XML in a text editor. Select “find and replace” to replace “warn” with “all”  in the XML file. Reproduce the slowness with a few different file types. The logs will be under C:\Users\User.Name\AppData\Local\Bentley\Logs.

      One possible reason for the slowness could be having UDP discovery enabled in the PW Network Control Panel. To make sure it is disabled, open PW Explorer and go to tools>network control panel. Check the box in the lower left hand corner to prevent UDP discovery
