Which i have done with Managed Workspaces on ProjectWise. Then you can use the MSTNvariable Expression to access the Variables the MDL adds to the Configuration Managers.

Hi All, just wanted to keep this topic moving, I did look into adding Dave B's SetPWVarsCE into the process and it would allow for Item Types' to 'GET' the PW attribute outside of the Attribute Exchange process.  So, thanks Chris on the reminder for this addin (it works as designed).  Now, the issues I see with this approach is obvious 'one-way' direction.  Which as a reminder, the intent of the exchange and MCM process with the keyin's for updatedms or updatenow is bi-directional.  My opinion is that this Attribute Exchange with Item Types needs to be fixed and if it has, please direct me to the fixes.  This seems to be important to PW users as it can be lots of process change\impacts to move from Tags to Item Types when you are dealing with many users.  Also, it's very important that the implementation of the Item Types with Exchange Rules follow all options that Item Types allow for, such as File, Model, element, etc. associations.  Bentley Support, please move this up on the list of fixes, if not yet fixed,

Phil Conard - is there any update to this integration with ProjectWise ?. I note a video posted to LinkedIn in the last couple days discussing that dwg format attributes now come in as Item Types by default ( with the option to open file as tags), so it seems the general coaxing is now towards item types in place of tags in the MicroStation environment. This will no doubt influence the dgn format in the near future and we will work with 'attribute' data in a file as item types - be it design objects for reporting in tables or the drawing border itself. a lot of discussion above is around workarounds and bespoke solutions, however we surely want this as a delivered workflow.

Can anyone provide an update on this thread please ?
