58510 Error - PW Explorer was running fine until recently getting this error

    Hi all,

We were successfully running ProjectWise Explorer for years in our office. Recently (it worked fine before) we are getting the 58510 error on several of our machines. Why?

    • We are a small office and rely on Client licenses from prime consultants to use ProjectWise. In other words, we do not currently have a PW license. Perhaps the primes have discontinued our client licenses?
    • I ran product activation wizard on the machines getting the error. See screen shot below. Explorer Client V8i is activated. Explorer Client says we don't have a license for this product. So do we need a license?
    • The thing I'm most confused about: why did this all work swimmingly before but now we get the 58510 error? What could have changed?

    Thanks!

    Nate

Yes Phil, you are correct. I was made aware that we are no longer receiving a client license from our prime consultant. We will be buying PW licenses through Virtuosity today.

      Hi Nate,

It does sound like the organization that owns the datasource has changed the user setting and is now requiring that you provide your own license for ProjectWise Explorer. In the PW Admin console, admins can set if the user logging into the datasource can user the organizations license or if the user has to provide their own license. It sounds like they have changed this setting for your users.  However it is now easier than ever before to purchase a PW Explorer license. Bentley recently launched a website for organizations to purchase ProjectWise Explorer licenses.

      Regards,

      Phil
