    Folder shows it contains files without me clicking on it

    Does ProjectWise have any feature allowing folders to indicate that they contain files without me clicking into the folder? (this is not an issue with subfolders in a folder) For instance, the folder icon would change from an empty folder to a folder that has something in it. Something like what Windows file explorer does when the view mode is changed to thumbnails.

    If not, I would be grateful to see this feature added. The benefit I see is saving time otherwise spent clicking through tons of empty folders while searching for something. Of course the better way is to not have empty folders in the first place, but myself and pretty much everyone at my company collaborate in PW, and inevitably many folders get created and go unused, hence this post.

      Hi, I have seen this accomplished through the SDK, however it is not part of the product today. I think it is a great idea and one we should incorporate. Can you submit this idea to the PWDI idea's portal: https://pwdi.ideas.aha.io/ideas

      Thank you,

      Phil.

      Thanks, Matt...I am not sure how useful this actually is to me since I am in engineering rather than IT (and have never done anything even remotely like PowerShell scripting), but I will keep it in mind for later. In the end, if I cannot get this to work it's no biggie for me.

      Hello Noah Warila

      You can run a PowerShell command to "get" Empty Folders in a ProjectWise Datasource. Have a look at the Get-PWEmptyLeafFolders cmdlet in the pwps_dab PowerShell Module. Here is an example of a PowerShell Script you could create and save (to run at any time):

      # Prompt to select and to sign in to a Datasource.
      $Result = New-PWLogin -BentleyIMS -NonAdminLogin

      # Get Empty Folders.
      $EmptyFolders = Get-PWEmptyLeafFolders -FolderPath "Design\FDOT-D1\Projects" -FillPaths

      # Loop through each Empty Folder in the Empty Folders Array.
      ForEach ($EmptyFolder in $EmptyFolders)
          {
              # Display the Full Path in the console.
              Write-Host $EmptyFolder.FullPath
          }

      # Sign out from ProjectWise Datasource.
      Undo-PWLogin | Out-Null

      You could exclude the -FolderPath "Design\FDOT-D1\Projects" parameter and the command would search the entire Datasource.

      Hope this helps.
