When we want to issue a new version of a master document.

If the references use by that master document are still active, this will mean that older versions of the master document are still subject to be modify as the active reference can be modify.

In order to freeze that master document, we need to make sure that at the time a new version of the master document is create, all children need to be lock ( meaning not active).

I was under the impression that I once saw this option we can activate : When we create a new version of the master document, PW will warn us that some children are still active, thus the new version of the master document could not be create. until we lock children design.

A new version of a document that has references should simply bring the same references into the new version of the document. The new version would simply retain the same links and references to the active references.

If it were dependent on references being locked as final versions, it would break the whole purpose of using references and the changes being made in the referenced files reflecting in the master.
