Workflowing a DGN state to state is very slow using ProjectWise Explorer Client version 10.00.03.453

Workflowing a DGN drawing from from one workflow state to the next state is very slow using ProjectWise Explorer Client version 10.00.03.453.

It is taking about 30 seconds, where-as with ProjectWise Explorer Client version 08.11.11.590 it takes 2-3 seconds.  They use the same common ProjectWise Server version 10.00.03.140 in the backend.

Something is wrong with version 10.00.03.453.  Not sure if earlier 10.00.03.XXX versions are like that or not.

I'm trying to use that version as we are going to move to the latest MicroStation CE update, from the Select Series 10 version we are currently using. So ProjectWise Client version 10.00.03.453 is the latest version listed in the compatibility matrix for ProjectWise and MicroStation CE update 16.

    Can anyone help.  Thanks.

    Regards, Andrew Beer

That PWDI Server version is 5 years old. Many performance improvements around WRE were introduced in the 3.2 servers. I would strongly recommend upgrading the PWDI server version to get the latest performance improvements for WRE. Also, do you have indexing on the integration server or is indexing offloaded to a secondary server? Indexing can be a resource hog and will degrade the performance of a PWDI Integration server. Here are the instructions on how to move your indexing to a secondary server:

      Hi Phil,

Thanks for that feedback.  We do have full text search on so there will be some load on the server with that.  Our actual database resides on another server.

But the fact that via the older ProjectWise Explorer Client version 08.11.11.590 it is all fine, makes me think it's something else going on.

During the time that ProjectWise is trying to do the workflow there is no change or spike in the CPU usage on the ProjectWise Server machine.  In fact hard to see any CPU usage due to that process at all.  That's doing it using either the old PW client or the new PW client.

So I guess we'll see what Bentley's have to say.  Thanks.

      Regards, Andrew
