    Error 58007 while deleting projects

    I need to delete a few projects/work areas in a datasource. But whenever I try to delete a project which contains documents it gives the below error. There are some solutions on the communities but they seem old. I'm part of the Admin group and have the "Show all versions" option ticked for Document List settings.

    Error Information
    Last Error [ 58007 ]
    Error deleting a folder.
    Error deleting a folder. A folder has documents which can not be removed. Remove those documents first.

    Version: 10.00.03.434

    ProjectWise Explorer CONNECT Edition

      Does your account have the user setting "use access control" turned on?

      if yes - it's possible there is a hidden file in the folder with permissions set so you can't see the file.

      if no - there is probably an orphan file in the storage area dms folder. You'll have to find the dms folder on the server and delete any orphans (but do NOT delete the folder itself on the server, let pw do that)

      Yes, my account has "use access control" turned on. What should be the next step? I don't want to manually delete one subfolder at a time for the whole project.

      Turn off use access control and try deleting the folder again. It will delete files even if you don't normally have permission to see the files.

      If that still doesn't work, somebody will need to login on the server, go to the projectwise storage area, find the dms folder* and delete any orphan files. That will let you delete that one folder, try deleting them all again. If it fails on a different folder you'll have to repeat the process. There is no way to delete orphan files in the storage area.

      * the dms folder number is the folder ID of the folder in ProjectWise if you turn on  the 'Object ID' column in the view you can see it. dms folders are named using that number as follows:

      • folder id <= 99999 folder is named dms#####
      • otherwise folder is named d#######
      • in both cases the number is zero-padded to make the folder name 8 characters long
        • so folder id 349 is dms00349, folder id 123985 is d0123985

      Thanks for the explanation. Getting the same error upon turning off the "use access control" setting. I don't have any server access. I think I need to reach out to Bentley support.
