    Hello,

We are using ProjectWise explorer version 10.00.03.453 and logging into another companies server to work.

ONE user on ONE computer cannot open a couple files they created 2 years ago.

If he remotes into another machine, he is able to open it. We searched and found information here:  Using the CHKLCLEANUP Utility in ProjectWise [TN]

but this file does not exist on anyones machine at our company...

So far we have tried uninstalling PW and deleting the working directory on the c drive to no avail. IT has to be storing old information somewhere on this machine.

    Thanks

Somebody should have ProjectWise Administrator installed on their machine, whoever admins your projectwise should have it. chklcleanup.exe is installed with that. Running chklcleanup.exe requires projectwise…

We only have ProjectWise Explorer as we are a smaller subconsultant. The ProjectWise Administrator would need run on the server where PW data is held, correct? If so, I will forward this response to the…

      Try this...

Have the user who is running into this issue open their Local Document Organizer from the TOOLS menu.

Click on the dropdown list for NODE: and select <all>

Then go through each of the icons (shown with a red box around them in the image below) and clear all of the documents in each list

FREE any documents that are Checked Out and PURGE any documents that are Copied Out.

Any documents that they are not able to clear will be checked out to some other PC and for that you are going to need the PW Admin to run the checkl cleanup utility on. The first document shown in the image below would be an example of that. It's listed among the documents that PW believes to be checked out to me, but the absence of the red checkmark icon indicates that it is on some other PC and I am not able to free it from the machine that I am currently using.

Given that they don't have an issue when they use another PC, the conflict may be with the machine where they are running into the problem.

But I sort of think that you are going to need your PW admin for this one.

We did that and still are having issues. We uninstalled all Bentley and are still having issues. The only option left is to completely rebuild machine.

We have contacted the Prime consultant who owns/runs the PW server and are waiting to hear back from them.

      thanks!

It sounds like your Prime Consultant should be the person who is able to use the chklcleanup utility to clear the issue for you, referring to what Kevin mentioned in his post last month.
The PW database is looking at the PC name, so rebuilding it isn’t necessarily going to help in this case.

Thanks Dave. We have reached out to them and are waiting for a response. We did find an interesting work around…. If the designer(s) who are having the issue on there specific machine uses my PW login or any other persons login, the file opens. This designer can also log into any other computer and use their own log in, it also works. It’s a really weird scenario.

our temp with around is for those 2 designers to switch PW logins.

I will respond with a post once the Prime gets back to us and if we ever figure out the issue.

       Thanks
