    MicroStation 2023 & ProjectWise

    MicroStation 2023 was released yesterday, it can be side-by-side installed with MicroStation Connect (and V8i) which means.... new Program Class Name.

    Originally when the MicroStation 2023 FAQ was released it indicated only ProjectWise 2023 (no sign of that being released) was certified, however the FAQ has been updated to indicate PW 10.00.03.453 and PW 10.04.02.44 (I've not seen this version either, presumably a beta for PW 2023?) and PW 2023 are certified. The installed detects if ProjectWise 10.00.03.453 are already installed and automatically integrates with it if it is. I presume it does the same for the other certified versions.

    I don't see anything that might break your managed workspaces, but I also haven't tested this yet. It does have a different config directory so if you modify the ConfigurationSetup.cfg and other delivered workspace files they are in C:\ProgramData\Bentley\MicroStation 2023\Configuration now.

    The new program class name for MicroStation 2023 is:

    Bentley.MicroStation.Application.{6B0254D4-D37F-318A-BB2D-83924E8EAD88}

    So you can setup a MicroStation application that explicitly lists each installed version when using Open With..., or set the default to your preferred version. Just create Open actions for each version and set the Program Class Name to the appropriate one.

    Note that during installation you can change the install options and turn of "File association" in the Application Options and it will not take over the .dgn (and .dgnlib and .dgnws and etc...) extension from whatever is currently associatied with it.
