Document security when creating a new project

    Todd Anderson
Todd Anderson over 12 years ago

We have a project template with numerous folders.  In a most of these folders, I would like to have one file with specific document security limiting who can open the file.  I can set document security on this file in the template, but when I create a new project using this template; the security of that document is lost in the new project.  Any suggestions?

The reason this file is in these folders is to facilitate moving the folder to the next workflow state.  Some of these folders may be otherwise empty, so we can't easily move the folder to the next workflow state without a file existing in the folder.

    Thanks!

    Todd

I don't have an easy answer to your question.  You probably could do something with the SDK with a post document creation hook.

I'm not sure why the state of the folder is important to you, but obviously it is, so make sure that you open a CR asking for the ability to change the state of a folder directly.

Implementing this feature might require more effort than it might seem as currently the folder's state "follows" the state of the "lowest" state of all the documents it contains.  Obviously, you must realize this as your technique of using a "holding" document is keeping the folder state from changing until you deliberately change the state of this document.  It would have be worked out when the state of a folder changes if it isn't dependent on the "lowest" state of all documents.  Be sure to include why you need this behavior in your CR.
