    unmanaged workspace

We have run into too many issues with managed workspaces that we are flirting with unmanaged workspaces.  We have a handful of projects that are unmanaged.  We have subfolders in these projects that we kept managed for subs & clients.  I am trying to get the unmanaged W/S configured for external users and I have run into an issue.  MS will crash without giving any informatio what caused the crash.  We have the Root directory set to a UNC (e.g. \\server\share\) in the unmanaged profile.  I then set -wsC:\CADD\external.cfg in the additional command-line arguments.  I ran a debug and the config file is being read.  When I remove the debug, I get a crash.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

      Hello,

Unmanaged Workspaces passes all the configuration settings on the command line to launch MicroStation.  If it crashes through ProjectWise with a specific command line it will more than likely crash from straight MicroStation.  The local workspace configuration needs to work for the unmanaged workspace to work.  What I would recommend is to use a program (i.e. Process Explorer) to capture the command line used to launch MicroStation from ProjectWise.   Go to a windows command shell and run the command line.  MicroStation should still fail but it might write something to the command window as to why, give you some direction to troubleshoot.  If it doesn’t help you can try eliminating pieces of the configuration until you find the parameter that is causing the failure.   If that doesn’t help I would recommend contacting the Technical Support Group.

      Jeff
