    Projectwise v8i problem (SELECT Series3)

    Hi,

Pardon me if I post in the wrong thread since this is my first time posting:

To cut the story short, I have been using Projectwise with Microstation before with Windows XP as OS without a problem until recently I upgraded into Windows 7 and have PW v8i installed along with MS V8i (Select series 2) installed and now I start to get problems.

Whenever I want to check out a drawing, I get this message instead (see attached image). I have logged in (to datasource) when I open PW and usually I never have to log in again when opening a drawing in MS. I have asked around in my office nobody knows. If someone could help me with this then I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks in advance

    Eva

      Eva,

Are you using the same machine that had Windows XP installed?  Meaning did you update your Windows XP machine to Windows 7?

If so, did anything change like the machine name or username?  Reason I am asking is ProjectWise does not like you to have 2 users on the same machine access files from the same datasource.  There is a workaround for this but I recommend using the dmschkl utility to clean the datasource of the existing machine or user.

      Sean

Looks like you ran into the "double login issue" There is a registry fix for this, contact TSG, the key you will be adding is EnableSimultaneousMultiLogins

I have tried the registry fix, it does not solve the problem.

I should add that I only have the problem when I'm working via VPN, not sitting at my office. When I'm at the office, none of the problem disappear. But then again if VPN is the issue, I wonder why I never had this problem before when I was still running Windows XP and Projectwise XM together with Microstation XM

Yes, I upgraded the machine from Windows XP to Windows 7. Doesn't it mean that all the files before were wiped completely clean? I have some files that I forgot to back up in my computer when I upgraded and those were wiped clean anyway (don't worry, nothing important).

@sean: What is dmschkl utility, would you explain more?

The chklcleanup utility is a way to clear up the database of any orphan records of files that have been checked out or copied out.  I'm not sure it will help in this case, but you can read more about it here:

If you still need help, feel free to contact SELECT Support and we will be glad to work on this issue with you.

      When Projectwise checks out files it logs the machine name they are checked out to;

if the files remained in the same physical location on your machine pre and post upgrade but you changed the machine name during the upgrade - projectwise will still think your user names has files checked out on the xp machine name (that you just formated) and have none checked out on the Win7 (you just created).

The checkout log is user name /machine name/file path..

chklcleanup will allow you to re-align the checkout logs and thus remove references to your non-existent xp machine.

      Best Regards,

      Ian Emery
