When you check-in, update server copy or even if you just right click a file and select "Add Comments" you can add comments to a file.  How do you view these comments?

    Thanks, John

It is part of the audit trail, so you have to be able to view the audit trail tab to see the comments  *** AND *** this feature has to be enabled by the ProjectWise administrator.  If it isn't enabled, you can still enter comments, but they aren't saved anywhere, at least not that I could tell for version 08.11.09.91.

Can a view be setup to show the comments? I found a way to add it to my view but they don't seem to show up. Is this a future feature that hasn't been worked out yet. It seems pointless to have a piece of metadata that can't easily be viewed.

I suspect that the "comments" you added to your view are from an environment, not the audit trail.  That's probably why "they don't seem to show up".

Document attributes are stored in an environment table.  Document comments from the "comment" command are stored in the audit trail table.  Two different locations for two different purposes.  I would suggest that the "comments" that are part of the audit trail are not really "meta data", but a point in time value.  If you want some comments to be "meta data", then I think it makes more sense to create a "comment" document attribute as that will behave as any other document attribute.
