It seems like we installed dependency service on our client PCs, then got dinged the VERY large bill for Dependency Services. Isn't there a free view-only tool?

The viewer build into the ProjectWise Explorer when used to view existing ProjectWise dependencies, like reference files, sets, etc is simply enabled by the use of ProjectWise Explorer. If you do nothing else other then install this with ProjectWise Explorer this is what you get.

Separately there is a capability that is enabled(Lit up) in the Viewer when the datasource is configured appropriately that allows the user to create their own custom dependency maps. This capability is enabled by installing the Dependency Services Administrator module and turning on the capability in the datasource. This will then start reporting the use of a Dependency Services license for each ProjectWise Integraion Server that has a datasource with the capability enabled.

If you do not want to use this capability, you can use the Dependency Services Administrator to turn off the capability in the datasource and the PW Explorer viewer will revert back to just being able to view existing dependencies.

HTH,
