Feature Request - Checkout to project and up rev attachements

I am currently working with a plant owner and we have been looking at their specific need and document workflows The following two features if added to ProjectWise would make life much easier for them and I am sure many other plant and asset owners.

    Checkout to project

This could be an option added to the document menu that would copy the document to a user selected "rich project folder" where it is managed separately from the document in the main area until such time as the project is completed or abandoned.

In the case where the project goes ahead and the document is updated to as built it can be checked back into the main area incrementing the version of the main document in the process.

In the case of the project being abandoned the documents checked out to the project can be freed.

With this feature rich project folders could be used as a form of work area that remains under ProjectWise control (This sort of feature is available in Bluecielo Meridian which typically makes it a stronger option for asset owners in managing their documents).

    Up rev Attachments

Currently if I check out a Hybrid file (DGN with CIT Attachment) and use Descartes to modify the raster attachment. When I check t main file back in I am given the option to create a new revision for the main file but not for the attachments that have been modified. This (in the case of my current client) is an issue (especially when using sticky attachment versions) as the previous version of the file is referencing the same modified raster and is no longer a true representation of that version of the document.

If the new version of the document and appropriate attachments is created before working on the document it is a complicated process to roll back to the previous version should the changes be abandoned.

This situation would also apply to other documents that are made up of multiple files.

Other engineering document management systems typically handle this better as they are more document focused than Projectwise which tends more towards a file based focus. These other systems allow multiple files to be attached to the one document record. Yes flat sets do provide a way of doing the same but having 400,000 of them can be a bit of an overhead to manage.
