    Management of hybrid documents

Currently if I check out a Hybrid file (DGN with CIT Attachment) and use Descartes to modify the raster attachment. When I check the main file back in I am given the option to create a new revision for the main file but not for the attachments that have been modified. This is an issue (especially when using sticky attachment versions) as the previous version of the file is referencing the same modified raster and is no longer a true representation of that version of the document.

If the new version of the document and appropriate attachments is created before working on the document it is a complicated process to roll back to the previous version should the changes be abandoned.

This situation would also apply to other documents that are made up of multiple files.

I'm finding that Projectwise is very much a file based system and not document centric. Yes flat sets do provide a way of managing complex multi file documents but having over 400,000 of them can be a bit of an overhead to manage.

      Dav,

ProjectWise can do what you have requested with some customization.  My employer also works with many CIT refernces as well.  Bentley Professional Services can help you develop your instance to behave the way you are wanting it to behave.  They developed a solution for my employer some years ago and it has served our purposes.  We are now embedding the images instead of referencing them so we are needing that customization less.
