update / change / set Document store area (thus moving document from drive and folder to drive and folder)

In Explorer: new store area added as resource to project, sub folder store area property changed to new store area.

Existing folder documents still assigned to old store area; is there a cmdlet to update document store area property?

Kevin, You can use Update-PWStorageAreaForProjectTree cmdlet. Update-PWStorageAreaForProjectTree 'Project' -NewStorageArea 'PW_Storage_2' HTH, Arturas

When we have tested it we found there was a bug with the cmdlet and files writes to the new Storage area occur directly from the user and computer running PowerShell not from the ProjectWise Integration server and service account as you would expect it to do. So unless your user account has both permissions and network access to the storage area outside ProjectWise the cmdlet will fail.

It should be some permission issue on that new storage area. I did this on my VM on a project with subfolders and files and everything was copied under the new path (new storage area).

I am using that , but there is a permission problem . New folders are created on the target store (retaining the dms number) but the files are not being copied from the source (existing store) to the target store (drive and folder) . I was hoping to avoid the problem with an alternative cmdlet specifically for Documents instead of folders. Needs to be resolved internally,  I T should do this work as they have the admin names and passwords - and power-shell is so easy anyway ... thx to the wonderful Bentley add-ons (DAB) ... *sigh*

      Kevin,

      You can use Update-PWStorageAreaForProjectTree cmdlet.

      Update-PWStorageAreaForProjectTree 'Project' -NewStorageArea 'PW_Storage_2'

      HTH,
      Arturas
