    Update-PWWordDocumentFields

Just wanted to ask the team, the cmdlet for Update-PWWordDocumentFields, as far as I understand, was set up as a workaround for a specific issue with Title block updates. How easy would it be to adapt this for Excel. And also, is there a way within PowerShell to trigger a Microstation title block update?

The issue was specific to how word updates fields when not actually being opened.

Excel and Microstation don't have this issue and the attributes will be updated when you copy out, export, check out or open the file (depending on your settings in PW Admin, with regards to when PW refreshes the attributes).

Running the checkout cmdlet should do what you need

      Regards

      Chris

I believe what Chris is saying is that title block update was not completely working for Word, at least at the time, so  the Update-PWWordDocumentFields cmdlet was provided.  Title block update was and is working correctly for Excel and MicroStation, so there is no need for additional cmdlets.   Let us know if that is not the case.

Going back to your original question, yes PowerShell should be able to perform MicroStation title block updates.  You'll  need to use the Enable-PWTitleblockUpdate cmdlet first on each computer that you want PowerShell to update the title blocks on.  Then you can use the Checkout-PWDocument cmdlet as you see fit to perform the actual title block update.  This cmdlet has export and copyout options.  But you'll need to check out and check the  the document back in to have the update be permanent.  All this should work for Excel files also.

      Hope this helps,
