    Plotting AutoCAD Drawings That Include Wipeouts

    jgarza
    jgarza over 8 years ago

    I am trying to plot AutoCAD drawings from within ProjectWise that include wipesouts (Text Masking) but when the pdf files are created all I get is a solid black square around the text. I also noticed that the in AutoCAD you have the option for linetype scaling if you are printing from Paperspace. I see no such option in Interplot settings. So my plotting line weights are a little darker frm what they should be.

      Both issues may be related to a design script resymbolizing the plot. Test without a design script to see if it is causing the problem. If it is, add the following to the design script:

      if (type == text) then
      fill_color = (255,255,255)
      boundary_color = (255,255,255)
      color = (0,0,0)
      endif

      This should print the background and boundary white and print the characters black.

      The cls_scale design script keyword scales the custom line style.
      This example will scale all linestyles by 1/2:

      if (cls_name .ne. 'none') then
      cls_scale = 0.5
      endif

      Hi Todd,

      I'm struggling to get an AutoCAD "wipeout" to plot as expected using a design script and ICS/InterPlot.
      The interior area of the wipeout is fine - it seems to appear in MicroStation as the background colour so, when I create the PDF, it is white - perfect.
      But the shape around the outside of the wipeout shows in MicroStation and, using element information, the colour is shown as "DWG Special Colors:DWG Color 255 (210,210,210)". And this plots as black in the PDF.

      I did find another thread that provides a MicroStation configuration variable that can assign this DWG special color to a RGB value. After some experimentation with the RGB value, I did manage to create a PDF that did not have the wipeout area shown (much to my amazement). I have a concern that implementing this configuration valuable on an ICS server might break something else... so here's my question.

      Is there a method that can be implemented within the desgn script that can find any/all "wipeouts" and ensure they do show up in the PDF?

      Thanks,
      Michael

      Michael,

      If testing off color is not option, you will need to test off type or level name or reference file, etc…., or with a combination, and then assign boundary_color = (255,255,255). Refer to the PW InterPlot Help for a list of Design Script comparison keywords and examples.
