Our users are experiencing "inconsistency's" with iCS for PDF renditioning. For example, and this is second hand, if one plots several sheets a handful will not load the workspace. When the same set is printed again a different handful will not load the workspace. If one tries to print the same sheets 10 times, each set will be different.
After several SR's and even iCS server upgrades, the issue persists.
Now, I'm told that there is a known defect to be addressed by a ProjectWise update, version 4.0, not yet available.
Can anyone affirm that they are also experiencing this issue or behavior?
For those who may not be experiencing this issue or behavior, what versions of ProjectWise and MicroStation are you using?
I just cannot image this issue is not unique to either my specific workspace, the workflow or user(s). I cannot imagine the Bentley user base as a whole is effectively using iCS for PDF while we cannot. I mean, it's not new.
Any help, direction or insight would be appreciated.
Both, MicroStation V8i version 08.11.09.919 and MicroStation CE 10.16.0.80, are installed on our iCS for PDF server. The users facing the issues are mostly ORD users with PWE 434 and MicroStation 10.15 installed locally.
Jeff
Ah, that may be why I'm not seeing it, we haven't had to plot an ORD set with renditions yet so I've only got MicroStation V8i on mine. I assume your workspaces are managed (most of ours currently are not, I've had this kind of issue with an unmanaged workspace where the local ICS copy of the workspace was out of date)
Is it possible it's submitting some of the ORD files via V8i and the workspace just doesn't work?
I'm not sure Kevin. Having met with Bentley now, the issue seems to be with BB's Dynamic Managed Workspace and 299. We were told the factors were the numbers of sheets in the set, the load on the server and anomalous items in the working directory (paths to a logical drive (f:\) on the iCS server itself). The short term remedy is apparently to purge these anomalous items from the working directory. But, we're still having to comb through our PDF sets to QA. There is a patch that has been developed which has been deployed for some clients. We were told the resolution is 4.0. My understanding was that the patch is a trigger to essentially clean the chkl table keying upon our ics user acct.
Jeff,
We are experiencing similar issues running these same versions. Have you been provided a solution? We have logged with Bentley and waiting on a response.
Thanks,
Greg
