    Selection Scope

Objects displayed in design software are often groups of simple geometry to represent complex components. When viewing the components in Design Review users can use Selection Scope to select the whole component or individual geometry if the component has not been bound into a single selection. Selection Scope allows users to adjust how objects are selected and what information is available in the properties dialog.

    Common Issues

Selection scope has 3 options available (Element, Assembly, and Top Assembly) that can affect what information is displayed in the properties panel when an element is selected. If the expected properties of an object are not showing first, try changing the Selection scope to a different level.

    Where is Selection Scope

In Design Review, Selection Scope is in the lower right side of the window.

    Selection Scope: Element

Element selection may only select the geometry under the cursor

    Selection Scope: Assembly

Assembly selection may select all objects grouped with the geometry under the cursor

    Selection Scope: Top Assembly

Top Assembly may select all objects grouped with the geometry under the cursor and can display all information for that component if it is available in the iModel.
