Problem Description

When using Distribution Services to create either a non-rendition, dpr only, or rendition using an Archive for example PDF.  The user receives an error returned as
Failed -- Failed to create plot set: error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM component

Solution

Make sure the distribution user has a working directory created in the user settings and that a directory is created on the server.
The best way to verify this is to start ProjectWise Explorer on the server where the distribution is being ran and log into ProjectWise
Explorer with the distribution user, thus creating the working directory.  Once the directory is created re-run the distribution job.
