This technote is to guide you in the upgrade of ProjectWise to the latest version (ie. 08.09.04.50 to 08.09.04.116) build(s). These steps will help in uninstalling all components of ProjectWise, getting all ProjectWise registry keys removed from the server and initiate the installation of the latest version.
**It is highly recommended to contact Bentley Professional Services for any upgrade. 1-800-BENTLEY, Option # 1 **
• Check that the user name you are logging in with has Administrator rights to the local machine with permissions to remove software.• Back-up your dmskrnl.cfg file
• Back-up all log files on the Integration Server
• Back-up the Classes and all files in this folder if you are using Publisher and WEL.
1. Go to Control Panel --> Add or Remove Programs. • Uninstall all ProjectWise instances backwards from the order in which you Installed them. (ie. Indexing Server, User Synchronization Server, Distribution Server, Automation Server, Integration Server, and Orchestration Framework) • Please Note: If you do not have a component installed that is listed above, move to the next one in the list. • It may be necessary to stop the orchestration framework service before uninstalling. • After the server software as noted above is uninstalled, remove any client software i.e. ProjectWise Administrator, ProjectWise Explorer, Automation services administrator. The order should not matter.
2. Reboot the server
3. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Bentley\ and delete the ProjectWise folder as well as any other folder from components you just uninstalled.
4. Clean up the registry using the following freeware. CCleaner: http://www.ccleaner.com/download • Enables you to delete any registry keys that are not being used by your system or that has been left behind by the un-install.
a) Create a back-up of your registry (you will also be prompted to do this when using the utility). b) Download and install the utility. c) Click on the Registry icon and run the scan. This will bring back a list of registry key's that are on your system that are not being used by your system. d) Select all the Bentley ProjectWise related registry key's and remove them all. e) If desired, you can also remove any other unused key's . f) Save the .reg file.
