ERROR can not create folder #### (xxxx)

      Product(s): ProjectWise V8 XM Edition
      Version(s): 08.09.04.89
      Area:  Export Import
Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group

    Problem

ERROR: can not create folder ####  ('xxxx')
Project GUID (globally unique identifier) is already used in this datasource.
    importing document 2 ('myfile.DWG') from folder ####
ERROR: can not create document 2 ('myfile.DWG') in folder ####
Document Add Module: File name exist in project

customer getting the above error when using the start \ programs\ Bentley \ ProjectWise \ tools \ export -import
    Scenario:
customer is exporting folder ABC_90 from one datasource then importing it into another datasource (as a backup\archive)
He then changes the name of the folder in the original datasource to ABC_100, works on the files and then exports the folder.
When he goes to import the renamed folder to the new datasource he gets the above mentioned errors in the log and nothing imports

    Solution

The export import tools use an *.aam file to track where the files are coming from so that it knows where to put the files back to.
In this file the Vault and VaultGuid and name of the folder are used to track the folder.

The customer changed the name of the folder in the original datasource which does not change the vault number or vaultguid.
then when he tried to import to the new datasource the vault number and vaultguid already exists but the name did not match up.

this is a works as designed.

Suggested as workaround to create a temp folder on the original datasource, then when he is ready to archive a folder, copy it to the temp folder, then export it from the temp folder.  this will create a new vaultguid because it is essentially a new folder.  then when it is imported into the new datasource the new folder will be created.
