Why Prosteel doesn't have many things to simplify the detailing work.

Hi

I am learning prosteel for some stuff its nice but some things very complicated to sort out.

I am highlighting my thoughts with Bentley developer if it can be sort out by them.

1. very hard to do blowup detail. (Should be a circle or rectangle to place on blowup area with required depth and show it in 2d drawing)

2. very hard to cut sections of your choice. should be similar of above option.

3. have to number each member manually. (it should number each element by itself by starting the assign prefix example 001,002 or 101,102 etc. letter the user can sort it out or re number it by using some sort of tool.

4. there should be a default material for elements and bolt separately so we don't need to assign each part material standards.

5. there should be weld between elements and required elements to be weld in the models and it clearly shown in model to see the object real. convert it assembly or group. similar to that of connection. and it should have option for welding sequence if there are many part in one place.

6. each 2d section are detail should be free for editing if some one wish to. rather going to multiple step back forth. there should be option for that if someone with to add or delete some text or dimensions.

There are a lot of things which is missing as long as user required to do a lot of manual work so its very time consuming work with no chance of 100% satisfaction of the output. my opinion is currently using the existing prosteel functions is similar of work 2d manual detailing on autocad.

Do Bentley team has any plan to upgrade the more user friendly tools on its next versions?

Kind Regards

  • I tried but Unsuccessful so I am attaching my drawing please change the values and settings and please inform me for that so I can study. I am not able to put position no and weld flags on 2d drawings.
    Thanks
  • 1. you can do it with detail points. There are various ways to create node points and call outs

    2. that can be done by extra defined views for GA drawings or in groups by automatic cuts

    3.

you can do all sorts of numbering to get sequential numbers.

    4. the default material for shapes and plates is in the Prosteel options, the default material for bolts is in the bolt style, per bolts, assigned.

    5. weld marks and weld flags are available, if grouped or in an assembly , they will appear in shop drawings. Surely a good option is to have weld sequences in the future

An enhancement will be filed for that. In the moment, you could use the remark in welds, like weld part 1,2,3 for that purpose.

    6. the 2d output is free for editing and will retain changes

    Many thanks for your feedback

of course to improve further the detailing process is our clear objective
