I have one question regarding the 3D model conversions.
I am using prostructures v8i S6 on the top of AUTOCAD.
Is it possible to convert the position numbers of the Prosteel profiles in the Navis product.Just I want to see the position

RE: General_Conversion

If you are attempting to show ProSteel data in Navisworks, I recommend the NWCOUT option posted above.

If you would like to assign ProSteel data to AutoCAD 3D solids, your options are very limited. You could assign each part position number to an individual layer. Or you could create blocks out of each part and use the position number as the block name. Neither option is very elegant. And I imagine you will need a custom LISP program for both.

RE: General_Conversion

Dear Lamensterms,

Yes I need only the Position numbers from prosteel to Autocad or In microstation.

I would be possible to attach a part's ProSteel data to an AutoCAD solid, as XDATA.... but not without a custom function/routine.

This is not natively supported by ProSteel.

Is it only the part position numbers you require? Or other ProSteel data as well?

RE: General_Conversion

Dear lamensterms,

Is it possible to convert the 3D Model Prosteel position numbers into pure Acad 3D model.

RE: General_Conversion

If you use the Navisworks export tool (NWCOUT) from ACAD, you should be able to see some basic ProSteel PART data within Navisworks properties palette.

Please note that it can be very difficult to produce an accurate Navisworks model of ProSteel elements. For example:

1. Each part must have "Solid Kernel" display DISABLED. Parts will not be visible in Naviwsworks with Solid Kernel disable enabled. This means that some boolean modifictions will not be visible in Navisworks.

2. You must have the correct ProSteel Navisworks object enabler.

Check out the forum thread (link below) for further discussion on the topic.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone has got this working well.

communities.bentley.com/.../92635

In Series8 there is an direct IFC Export.
