PS Detailing preview for multiple parts

I am currently using V8i SELECTseries 6 R2 for AuoCad 2017.

In earlier versions I was able to select multiple single parts, right klick, choose PS preview part and place the previews in a drawing one part after the other.

Now I can only select one single part or assembly. Otherwise the preview will not be produced.

Is there a way to produce drawings of multiple parts with one command and place them in a drawing?

I used to use this command in order to produce fabrication drawings for sheet metal parts.

Now I have to go through the process for every single part seperately, which is very time consuming.

Thanks in advance.

  • if one is using Previews, the update of the drawings will not function. Multiple parts can be processed and inserted, but only without previewing. A multiple preview is a function and workflow is not known as a supported workflow.

  • Hi Thomas,

Thanks for posting this query in Bentley Community Forum.

It might be in previous version the ability to choose multiple drawings to see the preview, but currently you can preview only one by one. However there is no issue of creating or placing drawings in sheet. You can select multiple drawings in Insert Tab and then Right Click and insert in the Sheet.

In View Tab you can only preview to verify all the representation are ok or not. If you are satisfied then you can move to next Tab and select those D drawings created and Right Click insert.

    Summarized steps are given below

    1. In Parts Browser, assign the Parts (Groups/Single parts) into specific Detail Styles

    2. As soon as those are assigned to Detail Styles, those details will then be displayed in View Tab to see the preview.

    3. under view Tab, Select the Parts > Right Click and Say Preview.

    4. Here also under Rifght Click you have option to Edit Detail Style.

    5. So this will allow you to change your 2D detail according to your requirements using various settings available in Edit Detail Style dialog.

    6. When you are satisfied with the resultant preview, Right click and say Create 2D.

    7. Then you go to next tab, Insert Tab and you will see the blocks, Right click and insert into the sheet.

    8. Here you can select multiple blocks, and then please insert into the sheet.

So I think you will get clear idea how to do that. However if you need, then we can send detail explanation.
