In the first screenshot, you will see that I am attempting to cut an opening into the top flange of the beam, using the Polycut as shown. I only want to cut the top flange. In the second screenshot, this shows the Shape Properties, and the cut is obviously not shown graphically. The profile of the cut I want, is shown in orange, whereas the cut profile according to the Shape Properties is shown in red, but the cut is not evident or shown correctly. Of note: When I cut the part using the "Complete" setting in the POSITION box, it works just fine...but I don't want to cut the full beam, just the top flange!
Current version: ProStructures Connect Edition Update 5 - Version 10.05.01.11
I have used this tool hundreds of times in ProSteel SS10 and older versions, without any issue. This tool is much faster than using Notches to do the same thing. I have checked every conceivable setting, config variable and attributes setting and cannot seem to find the fix. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
And now I see that for some reason the images were flipped when I hit the Post button. Those who are familiar with what I am attempting to show will get the idea...I hope!
Hello Frank, it would be kind if you can attach your drawing for further clarity. Many Thanks. As said by you the options besides the non-complete cut option do not seem to give correct results. And notches are too slow for you as you say.

The drawing size is fairly large, and does contain company specific information that I am not at liberty to share at this time.
As my post indicates, the Polycut by Polygon tool, using the "top-half" or "bottom half" POSITION does not work correctly in ProStructures Connect Edition.
My feeling is, this tool (or at least one aspect of the tool) isn't functioning as it should, and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this issue, or if Bentley is aware and has it planned as a "bug fix" in a forthcoming update?
Thank you,
Maybe you can make a copy of the drawing, make the drawing empty and paste this element in the same place. This should be normally enough to replicate. It could be related to drawing settings or units of the resolution, swa as Dominik says, or other various reasons. As also for you it happens the first time in years, we would have a double check to fully confirm it's solved in our latest update.
on second thought, there was an ACS-related case. Can you look with PS object view from the top on the beam and the drawn rectangle, and try to cut? Sometimes our command was needed to have the ACS cut plane better assigned, but this was fixed for those cases already. Feedback to get the "riddle" solved would be great. The reason behind, there is a "world" ACS and the local ACS, they needed to be coincident internally, this was fixed in cases, especially when you looked isometric on the part. Same with drilling, the Zaxis of the"main" ACS is the drill direction, and the axis, the need for this was fixed in 5.0 see under Steel Parts Drilling Improvement to be able to drill irrelevant of Zaxis alignment
Johannes,
I have uploaded the seed file (to the location you identified in your email), which has an example of the issue at hand. I have checked other ProStructures Connect Edition drawings I have done in the past 3 months, and the issue is the same throughout.
I do not use this tool all that frequently, and in the previous drawings I had no use for that tool (the specific POSITION of the PolyCut feature as described in my original post) I use the Polycut feature, but it's normally a COMPLETE cut through a part.
The seed file that I have uploaded, would essentially be no different from any other drawing file I have worked in for the past several months, keeping in mind that I have only switched over to Connect Edition ProStructures in February of this year.
