Dear Bentley,
Please stop treating Prosteel for Autocad users like second class citizens and provide an IFC Export / Import facility built into the product.
The "Structural Synchronizer" method is just a hack that barely works because it does not process large lumps of modelling for what ever reason I cannot fathom.
Thanks
KV
I have a different, and perhaps a little controversial, view on that. I think Bentley should drop AutoCAD support and focus on ProStructures that running on top of MicroStation. Maybe, who knows, evolve it to "OpenStructures Modeler"... A version of ProStrcutures much closer to the OpenBuiding Designer (Catalog Types based objetcs), with support for modeling precast structures (corbels, columns, beams, pre-cast connection with the new "User Conncetion Tool"), better detailing tools for reinforced concrete shop drawings (in Brazil, for example, we do not use managed rebar shapes, all rebars on drawings are unmanaged and it is a pain to do this workflow on ProConcrete; Allplan, Revit, Tekla do this much easier). For those who use AutoCAD, there is already Advance Steel. The fact that Bentley continues to support AutoCAD delays the development and evolution of ProStructures.
Hi Fernando
I have been using prosteel since 2002 (it was Kiwi software), I have always paid for updates too (I wonder which updates?)every year when they ask me for subscription money, I have been asking for a feature for IFC for years, the administrators always reply that it is not their job, they just want the money .....I in Prosteel have invested a lot of time and money, creating many macros for the parametric creation of components of my work (you can see here https://www.mcpsteel.com/macro_prostructures/ )these macros work only on Autocad because they are programs in Autolisp, on MicroStation it does not work.I believe that other non-programmers like me with Autolisp can do useful functions for their workAs for Advance Steel, I know several colleagues who have abandoned it.I imagine that if Prosteel was no longer on Autocad I would not switch to MicroStation but I would opt for more complete programs which I do not mention.I leave you to your thoughtssorry for my bad english languageand wish you a good day and enjoy your work
Thanks & Regards,
