Hi Admin(s),
My question/query is somehow related to Tekla which I am not familiar with. Can anyone please provide advice on this "Is it possible for Pro-Steel to separate each phase into lots? (i.e our fabrication and erection priorities?)". Thanks.
Hi Sandip,
Thanks for the prompt reply. With the Area Class, I understand this can be exported along when an *.mdb file is created. But if we export a ProSteel v8i model to an IFC format, does the area class go with the IFC format? or would this work when we open the exported ProSteel model in BIM-Review. Apologies but I just don't know how this phase/lots works when it comes to exporting ProSteel model then going to this BIM-Review thing (*.bswx file). Again, my apologies if this is not the correct place to be asking this question but as I am coming in from ProSteel, just asking with fingers crossed.
Yes, as far as I know, these classes will come over in IFC in the latest Connect Edition of ProStructure.
You can do also some mapping via the ini files for the objects like shapes and plates, located in in WorkSpace\ProStructures\Config\IFC folder.

Hi Roel,
how are you creating the bswx files? I also need to do this but cant find a workflow for it?
We too have the same requests as those listed, including the "why don't you use Tekla or Advance Steel?"
I have suggested to Bentley that without the Strumis fix we will be forced to use other software, something I do not want to do.
To add to the Strumis pile of woes, we have found that the field within databases that describes/identifies Assemblies is limited to 140 characters. Assemblies require more than this. This produces an incorrect dbf and therefore incorrect Strumis. - still no work around for this one.
I hope that Bentley have thought beyond groups and are also fixing assemblies within the new release, this thread started in 2018 and is still relevant, that's nearly two years.
Can we at least get a new estimate for when this fix will arrive, our clients are making demands we can not meet.
