I am attempting to use sub groups to assist with automatic detailing.I don't want sub group drawings or sub group numbers at all, only the additional dimension settings that the sub group allows.Please see below screengrabs for current result as well as screengrab of current sub-group/group settings to achieve this result;
The automatic detailing result is pretty much perfect for what I want to do.However, position numbering is completly f*@ked.
I don't want any sub group numbers, and I don't want phantom entries in my group containment lists if the sub group has not been numbered.Is there a better way to achieve the same detailing results? Or are there tricks that I don't know about regarding position numbers when sub groups are involved?

Thanks Alistair,Yes, correct.I am using the sub group to create the dimensions for the stair tread connection plates.

Addressing your issue, if you don't want any Sub-Group Position Number & also do not want the same in yourcontainment list, please switch off the check mark on 'In partlist' and switch on the check mark for 'Don't Position' in the PS Properties of the parts of the Sub Groups. Then you can carry on the process for generating your 2D drawings via the 2D detail Center. We believe this should resolve your issue.
