There are times the guys need to create and extract solids that have been extruded or extruded along a path. No problems with a straight extrude created solid, but anything created by 'Solid by Extrusion Along' simply will not extract. The extraction just goes all over the place. Any tips anyone has come across?
Does this work in AECOsim?
Thanks,
i don't think I've ever come across this particular problem before... You could try turning off Curve Hiding, or increasing hidden line accuracy in the Preferences tab. Alternately, you could try a DV to see if the results change (different algorithm).
I did try a simple test here but it seemed to work OK. The green one is a cylinder, and the other three were created using the Extrude Along Path tool.
Thanks for the reply Steve. I'm wondering if it has more to do with the shape.
I have attached the model and drawing I've been using for testing. No rules, just basic extraction. Would very much appreciate any suggestions you have as this is becoming a real problem.
Good pick up Steve, I missed that. Seed is fine, someone has been fiddling.
Cool, glad to have found a cause. Now, to hunt down that fiddler... ;-)
Thanks for this thread guys. I had posted on Steve's Wiki re. DEM not producing the expected results in AECOSim. I tried everything, finally checking the Solids Working Area in all files. They were inconsistent and when I reset those in the rogue model DEM performed brilliantly. Thanks again Steve and Bear, - really saved my bacon!

The beauty of searching threads John, glad it helped you out.
Ditto..... you're welcome!
