AECOSim / endplates

How are you guys modeling endplates?

The only tool I am aware of is the place slab command. But then I have a problem when defining slab type.

  • We have set up a separate xml file called plates.xml. In the xml file we have plate sizes defined as thickness x width (.375x9). To place the plates, use the user defined tool. In that command we have defined cap plates, base plates and embedded plates. By placing the plates as a structural linear element you can assign a mark number and obtain quantities. We have standard base/cap plates for different column sizes so we have also set up a 3d cell file with the base/cap plates (w/ holes for bolts). This way we can place the plates in the model easily. These do not show up in the plan extractions but are available if we cut a section or need quantities.
