The look of your 2D files are link to your Detail Style. The settings in the Detail Style controls what the 2D file would look like. To come up with the desired output you need to do some modifications on your Detail Styles settings. To see those changes you need to look at its preview. If its suits your preference then you can save the settings.
There are 2 ways you can use the preview updates. Option 1 is Automatically Updates Preview if Style Changes. Option 2. Manually Updates Preview if Style Changes. The difference between the 2 options are controlled by the settings shown on the screen shot. When it is enabled it does it Automatically once you change something disabled it and then you need to update it manually.
