This document contains the following sections:

Before you start

• Power ProStructures SS7 (08.11.11.616) release is a newer version of SS7 (08.11.11.297), hence any existing SS7 installation should be uninstalled first before proceeding with the new installation.

Therefore it is advisable to backup any customized files before uninstalling the existing version.

•  Design files created with Power ProStructures SS7 (08.11.11.616) can be viewed with MicroStation CONNECT and are compatible with Navigator and ProjectWise CONNECT. 
•  Power ProStructures is only upward compatible, dgn files are automatically converted/upgraded to the new version, once upgraded, Power ProStructures objects will no longer display correctly if opened on any prior version of the software. Therefore it is advisable to make a backup copy if opening the file in its earlier version is anticipated.

•  If you install Power ProStructures V8i (SELECTseries 7) on the same workstation as Power ProStructures V8i (SELECTseries 6), then Power ProStructures V8i (SELECTseries 7) will not install over Power ProStructures V8i (SELECTseries 6), but will install alongside.  This will allow you to retain two versions of Power ProStructures V8i on a single workstation. You should always back up your data prior to installation.
• When you install Power ProStructures V8i, the following applications are installed with it:
• Bentley V8i - Autodesk® RealDWG™ 2014
• Bentley DGN Thumbnail Provider
• Bentley DGN IFilter
• Bentley DGN Preview Handler
• Bentley DGN Indexer
• HDR Preview Handler
• Bentley i-model ODBC Driver for Windows 7
• Bentley DGNDb i-Model Importer
• Visualization content in the form of ready-to-render cell libraries is by default downloaded and installed. If you don't want to install it, turn off the check box next to the Visualization Content list box item in the dialog that lists the applications that will be installed with MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3).
• The Bentley DGN Reader for Windows 7 is an application that can be installed from the iWare Apps for Interoperability page on http://www.bentley.com/. When you install this application on your system, the following applications are installed along with it and you will see the status as "Not Required" for these applications in the Installer dialog:
• Bentley DGN Thumbnail Provider is required to correctly view DGN thumbnails on the Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems. Immediately after installing Bentley DGN Thumbnail Provider, you still may not see the correct thumbnails for DGN files. This will be corrected by rebooting or re-logging onto the system.
• The Bentley i-model ODBC Driver for Windows 7 is used to expose business data in i-models as an ODBC data source. It offers direct access of i-models from ODBC-compatible third-party applications such as Microsoft Office, reporting systems, and Business Intelligence applications. It allows application developers to use familiar tools to access and present i-model data from databases. When the driver is installed, the Bentley i-model ODBC Driver for Windows 7 User Manual (Bentley_i-model_ODBC_Driver_User_Manual.pdf) is also installed.
• Bentley V8i - Autodesk® RealDWG™ 2013, Bentley DGN IFilter, Bentley DGN Thumbnail Provider, Bentley DGN Indexer, HDR Preview Handler, and Bentley i-model ODBC Driver for Windows 7 are installed as separate applications. When you uninstall MicroStation V8i (SELECTseries 3), these applications are not removed. If you do not need them, you will have to uninstall them separately. However, Bentley V8i - Autodesk® RealDWG™ 2013 can be used by another application such as Bentley Navigator, if installed on the workstation. So before uninstalling, make sure it is not used by any other application.

Note: To discontinue installing the product at any time, click Cancel.

To install this Product

1. In a Windows Explorer window, double-click the Power ProStructures V8i set-up executable.
   
         The Power ProStructures V8iInstaller dialog opens.
2. Select the option for the operation you would like to perform:
   • Extract and install installation package — extracts the installation package to the directory folder specified, then automatically begins the installation procedure.
   • Extract installation package only — extracts the installation package to the specified directory folder for installation at a later time.
   • Create Deployment Image - turn on this option to if you want to create a deployment image of the application.

By default, the installation package will be extracted to C:\BentleyDownloads\______________________, as shown in the Extract to this folder field.

1. (Optional) To change the location to which the installation package is extracted:
   • In the Extract to this folder field, enter the drive and directory path to a different folder.
     or
   • Click the Folder icon to the right of the field and browse to a different directory folder.
2. Click OK to Extract an begin installation
   • If you selected Extract and install installation package, the Power ProStructures V8i Setup dialog opens.

      or

• If you selected Extract installation package only, go to the specified extraction folder and double-click the Setup.exe file to launch the Power ProStructures V8i Setup dialog.
   
1. Several applications are installed with Power ProStructures V8i (SELECTseries 7) the applications appear in the installation dialog box with a status of "Required" or "Already installed". Click Install to continue.           

The installation dialog box remains open in the background.

1. When the Power ProStructures V8i (SELECTseries 7) Setup dialog opens, Click Next.

The End-User License Agreement page opens.

1. After reading the license agreement, click the "I accept the terms in the License Agreement" check box if you agree to the License Agreement Terms and Conditions. Click Cancel if you decline the License Agreement Terms and Conditions.

Note that agreeing to the license agreement is required in order to install the product.

1. (Optional) Click Print to print the license agreement.
2. Click Next.

The Destination Folder page opens. This page shows the destination directory folders where the product is installed. This page is for informational purpose only

1. (Optional) To change the product installation directory, click the Change button below the Install MicroStation To field.
         In the Change Destination Folder page that opens, browse to the drive and folder you want to install the product in, then click OK.
2. (Optional) To change the workspaces directory, click the Change button below the Install Workspaces To field.
         In the Change Destination Folder page that opens, browse to the drive and folder you want to install the workspace in, then click OK.
3. Click Next.

The Configure Shortcuts page opens. This is where you select which shortcuts and locations to install.

1. (Optional) Select one or more of the following check boxes to indicate the location(s) where you want Power ProStructures V8i shortcuts to be created:
   • Start Menu (selected by default)
   • Quick Launch toolbar
   • Desktop
2. Click Next

The Setup Type page opens. Here you can select whether you want to install a Typical or Custom setup.

• Typical — installs the product with the most common features and NO customizations.
• Custom — lets you select specific features to install.

1. To do a typical installation, select Typical, and click Next
   or
   To customize your installation, select Custom.

The Product Features page opens. Here you can select which features you want to install. There are four categories of features: Power ProStructures V8i Required components, Required Dataset, Bentley SpacePlanner, and Structural Required components

• Click the plus sign (+) to see a list of features in category.
        The amount of disk space required to install a feature appears when you select the feature.
• Click the down arrow next to a category or feature to select how you want it installed. You also can choose not to install a category or feature.
• Click Install

A confirmation message appears when the installation is successfully completed.

1. The setup dialog will update to display the progress of the installation. To discontinue installing the product at any time, click Cancel.
2. Click Finish to exit the Power ProStructures V8i Setup Wizard.

A program group is created for this product. If you chose to use the Product Activation Wizard in the previous step, The Product Activation Wizard will automatically start.

1. (Optional) If any of the other applications are not completely installed, you will see the dialog with a status of "Required" or "Already installed" next to each application. After they are installed, click Finish to exit the Power ProStructures V8i Setup Wizard

NOTE: Log files - When you install the application following log files are created:

• BentleyInstallationlLog.log: This log file contains information about all the actions and analysis performed by the installation setup wizard. It also saves the installation commands used to install the application. In case of any error in the installation, it stores the error code. The string LOG_FILES_FOLDER in this file points to the installation log folder location. This file is common for all the Bentley products. Each time a Bentley application is installed, this log file is appended with the content of the application.
• Installation log: When you install the application, its installation log is created. This log is saved in a new folder created inside C:\Users\User.Name\AppData\Local\Temp. The name of the new folder is randomly generated, such as E32830B5-3516-489D-AE49-EB1BD8A10867. If you execute the installation multiple times, the latest log can be taken from the last modified/created folder. The LOG_FILES_FOLDER string in the BentleyInstallationlLog.log file also points to the installation log folder location.

Command Line Options for Running Setup.exe in the Deployment Image

The following command line options are valid for running the Setup.exe in the deployment image:

• "/qrui": Installs the application in reduced mode.
• "/qnui": Installs the application in silent mode.

NOTE: If you uninstall this product through Add/Remove Programs, any files that you created subsequent to the installation of the product will not be deleted. It is recommended that you use Windows Explorer to locate and delete these files, if you so desire.
