    Problem Description

    User sometime need to use standard data of specific length and width of Grating to be used as Web Grating.

    =========================================================================================
    Original issue description:

    How to use grating database in Plate tool and how can we add new data to that database so that we can easily
    select from the table.
    =========================================================================================

    Steps to resolve

    This document will explain how to use grating database to be used in Web grating in Plate tool. Also it will explain how to add new data to mdb file.

    (A) How to use Grating Database in plate tool:

    1. Open Plate tool and click on the OptionsTab

    2. Browse the Data Path and select the proper grating mdb file. This mdb file is generally located at

    C:\ProgramData\Bentley\ProStructures V8i S8\WorkSpace\ProStructures\Data\Plates (For ProStructures V8i) and

    C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProStructures CONNECT Edition\ProStructures\Default\appl\Plates (For ProStructures CONNECT Edition)

    3. Click Open and the table will be linked to the Plate tool and you can see all the available tables in that mdb file. You can choose from one which one you require.

    4. Then go to the Web Grating Tab. You will see all the available Panel combination and can select one as per your requirement.

    In this way one can link the mdb file and can automatically place the Panels according to predefined dimension provided in the mdb file.

    (B) How to add new data in the grating mdb file:

    New data can be added by just opening the mdb file and can insert new data according to user's requirement.

    As it is already said about the location of mdb file, one needs to open the mdb file from that location and can edit accordingly.

    Mdb file location:

    For ProStructures V8i >>> C:\ProgramData\Bentley\ProStructures V8i S8\WorkSpace\ProStructures\Data\Plates

    For ProStructures CONNECT Edition >>> C:\Program Files\Bentley\ProStructures CONNECT Edition\ProStructures\Default\appl\Plates

    In the following image you can see that the last Data row (highlighted row) is newly added and the same is reflected in the Web Grating Tab in Plate Tool.

    Please note that this mdb file in ProStructures CONNECT Edition located under program files and all those files under Program files are read only. So to edit the mdb file, one need to take local copy of the file and then can edit and replace at the original location.
